(4.5 stars) Dinner here was excellent and I'm so glad I made a reservation a month in advance. People wait outside in line for hours to eat at this fairly small restaurant. I'm not sure if I could wait in the cold for that long just to eat here, but the food absolutely will not disappoint.
The portions are massive and the pastas, like most of the ones we had in Rome, are heavy so don't expect to finish them all. The cacio e Pepe is a classic and it's done well here, a little heavy on the cheese relative to pepper but not offputting at all, just slows ya down a bit. The carbonara is incredible, but only when all the components are in each bite. Without the bacon and it's added crunch and salt, the dish would fall apart. The lasagna is also lovely. Don't stray from the pastas and I promise you'll enjoy. -

I was in Rome for about 4 days with my best friend and we wanted to try an authentic family restaurant in the city. We watched a bunch of videos about what's the best restaurant to visit. I have to say this was the most delicious plates of food I have ever tasted.
The restaurant is in Trastevere, across the river from the main city. Trastevere is a very lively neighborhood with not too many tourists. I would recommend coming here to enjoy the bar scene and night life because that's where it's at! The restaurant has their daily specials on the chalk board and I chose the lasanga. Mama Mia! It was so fresh and cheesy, and delicious. I love lasagna back home but this takes the cake. Its prepared in house and the ingredients are fresh.
The location looks like a whole in the wall restaurant but it's worth it. They have seating inside and outside and we were lucky enough to find a spot outside with a heater. As soon as we were seated a lot of people started lining up! So I'm happy we got there in time. We had some fired artichoke which is their speciality dish and we topped it off with some red wine.
This is a must visit if you are in Rome! -

On my trip to Italy over Thanksgiving, Da Enzo was highly recommended. I called for a reservation a few times prior to my trip and wasn't able to get through my first few calls and the last call someone answered and told me a reservation wouldn't be possible, but walk ins were accepted. We showed up around 8pm and the wait was around 1 hour. The man taking names let us know that we can walk around and come back. Seemed like most people waiting decided to stay in front of the restaurant, but it was cold an we wanted to go inside somewhere for a drink or snack. We found an excellent Mexican place right down the block and got fabulous margaritas and chips while waiting. About an hour later we went back and it was perfect timing! We were seated just a few minutes after we arrived.
We decided to order burrata and meatballs to start. The burrata was excellent and meatballs were delicious/sweet. For our main dishes I ordered the carbonara and it was excellent. I typically don't love or order carbonara, but it seemed like a must at Da Enzo. I was very happy with my order. My mom ordered a simple pasta in red sauce and it was was delicious also!
I highly recommend Da Enzo if you're in Rome! Try making a reservation a few weeks in advance to avoid the wait times, especially in the cold. -

We arrived shortly before opening and there was a very long line already. We waited about an hour before being seated. There were two of us.
We sat inside in the corner by the bathroom. It's very cozy inside! It's interesting that with their popularity, they didn't expand the size of the restaurant, even though they do have outside seating with different parties sharing tables.
My favorite part of the meal was the meatballs. Don't forget those. The bread and oil are a good way to start the meal but don't fill up because there's plenty of good food to come.
The pasta was excellent and we were very happy with the side of vegetables. Overall, the food was very good and worth the wait, service was remarkably friend, but I wouldn't rave about it like the rest of the internet. -

I mean this is what Roman food dreams are made of. This hole in the wall has been around forever, and has gathered quite a reputation! You have to wait in line outside to put your name on a list to get in, but trust me, it is well worth the wait!
We only waited about 20 min for lunch on a busy Saturday in Sept. We were seated inside on a table with a couple to our left and right- don't expect your own space really, it's pretty tight. But all of that adds to the mood.
The food- I mean what is there to say? Probably top three Caico y pepe I've ever had. The beef stew pasta was also spectacular. House wine was a perfect compliment.
Take the time to come here- trust me.
